Austin Fall Events
Staying at one of our Austin corporate rentals this fall? You’re in luck! Fall is one of the best times to visit Austin. Now that the weather has cooled down, music festivals are once again free to take over the parks and main avenues of the live music capital of the world. And no matter how outlandish your Halloween costume is, chances are you’ll blend right in.
Music festivals
If you have any interest in music, one of your favorite bands is probably playing at the Austin City Limits Festival. ACL will take place over two weekends, October 3 – 5 and October 10 – 12, on the grounds of Zilker Park. Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Lana del Rey, and Foster the People are some of the main acts. There will also be plenty of indie bands and local talent, with a lineup of over 130 bands. Between shows, you’ll get to sample a wide swath of Austin’s food truck scene, conveniently parked on the festival grounds.
Fun Fun Fun Festival is happening the weekend of November 7th. In addition to a long list of musical guests (like Judas Priest, Modest Mouse, and Neutral Milk Hotel) there will be comedy headliners Fred Armisen and Kumail Nanjiani. FFF Fest is one of Austin’s smaller festivals, with a more local crowd than Austin City Limits.
In the middle of a state known for its chili peppers and rainless clouds, the green hills of potato country have quite fan-base. Visit the Austin Celtic Festival on October 18th and 19th to learn from true enthusiasts about the history and the culture of the Celts. Whether or not you have Scottish or Irish ancestry, you should come to hear some of the folk songs that eventually inspired country music in the states. You can also see a Celtic dog show, participate in Scottish and Irish dance workshops, and watch historical reenactments. This festival will take place in the city’s famously picturesque Town Lake Park.
Formula 1
Watch some exquisite feats of engineering drive at crazy speeds around the track at the Circuit of the Americas, for the Formula 1 races from October 31 – November 1.
Halloween and fall harvest
If you’re traveling with kids, put a visit to the haunted trails at Pioneer Farms on your itinerary. Every weekend from September 27 – November 9, the storytellers at Pioneer Farms help create a mystery for participants to solve. Members of your group will be placed into hiding, and the rest of the group must follow clues to find them.
Visit the Barton Hill Farms for the Fall Festival and Corn Maze, taking place every weekend from September 27– November 9. This spot is 25 minutes southeast of Austin, in the suburb of Bastrop. Introduce your kids to rural fall activities with the elaborate corn maze and beautiful, ripe pumpkin patch.
