Beaumont Activities in Late Fall

Beaumont has enjoyed prosperity since the oil boom at the turn of the century. Residents celebrate their relaxed, Gulf-town vibe with a wide variety of events and festivals for every age. While staying at our Beaumont corporate housing, you too can enjoy some of the events below!

Wildlife

Go sightseeing on the Neches River Adventures Boat Tours. On a pontoon boat named Ivory Bill, you’ll get to see the wildlife of an unspoiled east Texas river. For more explorations of local wildlife, visit the Gator Country Wildlife Adventure Park. See rescued alligators and crocodiles, and bring along the kids to an educational show. Some smaller reptiles are available for up-close encounters.

After you’ve had enough gators, take a relaxing stroll through the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Shangri La Botanical Gardens. If you’re interested in gardening, the nature center regularly hosts lectures on plant-related topics, and demonstrations for children. Visit between October 8th and October 31st for the annual Scarecrow Festival. Local artists make scarecrows out of a wide variety of materials to demonstrate their recycling creativity.

Art and Culture

Beaumont is home to a thriving arts scene. Visit The Art Studio Inc. every third Thursday to listen to live poetry readings. Learn more about the history of Beaumont at the Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum. In 1901, a gush of oil from a well at the top of Beaumont’s Spindletop Hill set the Texas oil industry in motion.

Go to the Stark Museum for a more diverse collection of art. The Stark Museum has collections of Western Art, American Indian Art, and pieces from the Decorative Arts Museum. Starting September 20th, you should visit to see the temporary installation of pottery entitled “Women, Art, and Social Change: The Newcomb Pottery Enterprise.” This installation showcases gorgeous pottery, jewelry and handicrafts. These works come from an artistic collective of southern women.

Built at the turn of the century, the McFaddin-Ward House Museum is a testament to the great prosperity that oil brought to Beaumont. This enormous mansion was designed an opulent, colonial style. The inside is filled with beautiful antique furniture. Visit for the annual fall picnic on October 24th. In honor of the first owner’s birthday, the house also offers free tours from November 4th to the 8th.

Food

Who will be this year’s Pecan Queen? Find out at the Texas Pecan Festival’s pageant, held from Sept 18 to 21. On September 20, the festival hosts a parade. Come for the rides, tasty fair treats, a classic car show, and art contests. Check out more local produce at the Beaumont’s Farmer’s Market, open through November 22.
