Houston has a reputation for being the energy capital of the world, so it’s no surprise that nearby monumental safety concern with online booking platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo that has been increasing over the years is scams. Scammers will post images of properties that do not belong to them to get bookings. They will go so far as to get fake reviews on the property listing as well, which can give renters a false sense that the rental is real and trustworthy.

Premier Corporate Housing is aware of an instance in 2022 whereby a resident thought they leased a condo we owned by booking via an online booking platform. Unfortunately, it was a fraud/scammer that had posted the condo as their own on the platform. The resident tried to check in and was unable to do so because the host they booked with no longer had right of use to the condo due to lack of payment.  The resident was glad to be able to book directly with Premier Corporate Housing which was $2,000/month less. Unfortunately, this booking platform did not provide the resident with a full refund from this scam. The vetting process Premier Corporate Housing has in place prevents instances like this from occuring.
